Highlights:
9-11 October 2009, $60A spring set dancing weekend in Australia's capital city. After registration the welcome ceili is from 8 to 10pm with recorded music and calling by Paul Wayper. Ina Bertrand begins the workshop on Saturday morning from 9.30-11am. After a break, Liz Carter takes over for the rest of the day, 11.30am-4pm, teaching sets and couple dances (2-2.30pm). The Corner Ceili Band play for the Saturday night ceili from 7.30 to 11pm. Ina teaches another class of sets on Sunday morning, 10.30am-12pm, and there's a farewell ceili from 2 to 4pm. The weekend finishes with dinner and dancing at King O'Malley's Irish Pub, 131 City Walk, Civic. The set dancing coincides with the final weekend of Canberra's Floriade, Australia's largest flower festival, which is a ten-minute walk from venue. Contact Paul Wayper.

16-23 September 2009, $1673-$3727There's a galaxy of Irish music stars on this cruise of the Mediterranean, and even set dancers are well catered for with the bands on board - the Kilfenora Ceili Band, Micheál Sexton and Pat Walsh and the Lough Ree Ceili Band. Dance master Gerard Butler serves as MC and workshop tutor. The cruise begins and ends in Barcelona and makes stops in Monaco, Cannes, Mallorca and Casablanca. During the day you can visit Tunis, Valletta, Messina, Rome, Genoa and Marseille, and if you prefer to stay on board, there are workshops and music sessions. 1-4 October 2009, €190This weekend festival of Irish culture features set dancing workshops for beginners and improvers with Mick Mulkerrin and classes in sean nós dancing and steps for sets with Patrick O'Dea. Music, singing and step dancing workshops are also offered. The venue is a converted watermill in the countryside outside Hamburg and Hannover. 2-4 October 2009The Heidelberg set dancers know how to run a good weekend! The dancing features workshops with Jim Monaghan and ceilis with the Abbey Ceili Band and Micheál Sexton and Pat Walsh. Micheál and Pat play for opening ceili on Friday night, 9pm-1am, and again on Saturday afternoon, 2.30-6.30pm. The Abbey rounds out the programme on Saturday night, 9pm-1am, and Sunday afternoon, 1-5pm. Jim's workshop is from 10am to 1pm on Saturday. 8-22 October 2009, €1199, £899Sunny Mediterranean seaside resorts have become a favourite destination for set dancing holidays. This one or two week package to Portugal is popular among set dancers in Britain and Ireland thanks to several participating ceilis bands and workshop teachers. The setting is a ten-storey hotel on the Algarve coast; set dancing ceilis are on the tenth floor, social dancing is on the ground and the sea is within walking distance outside.
The dancing lasts all day, with morning and afternoon workshops and afternoon and night ceilis. Participating ceili bands include the Annaly Ceili Band, Copperplate Ceili Band and Brian Ború Ceili Band. There are even more bands and entertainers catering for social dancing.

31 October-1 November 2009, €80A weekend of dancing in a beautiful hall near Basel with workshops by Tony Ryan. His classes are on Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 12.30pm. The band Swaree from Germany plays for the weekend's two ceilis - on Saturday night from 8pm to 12am and Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5pm. Numbers are limited; register by 17 October 2009. 28 December 2009-1 January 2010, Sfr 610Celebrate the new year in style at this beautiful lake and mountainside venue in Switzerland near the old town of Thun, south of Bern. Pat Murphy is the resident dance master who will offer workshops for beginners and advanced dancers. Music for the nightly ceilis is by the Swaree Ceili Band.
