The Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy is Ireland's largest traditional music summer school, held annually since 1973 in memory of the piper Willie Clancy. During the week, nearly a thousand students from every part of the world attend daily classes taught by experts in Irish music and dance. In addition, a full program of lectures, recitals, dances (céilithe) and exhibitions are run by the summer school.All events are held in and near Miltown Malbay in County Clare starting on the first Saturday in July. Registration for music and dance classes takes place on Saturday and Monday. The registration fee of €140 Euro, £130 Sterling or $250 US includes six classes, all lectures and recitals (except the Saturday concert) and reduced price admission to céilithe. Weekly registration only. Lectures, recitals, concert and céilithe are open to the public.

angleann@oceanfree.netAn accommodation service is available from Marie Healy on 065 708 4550. She can book rooms only for summer school students attending for the full week. Most of the available accommodation is for shared rooms as single rooms and rented houses are scarce. Marie is unable to help casual visitors seeking weekend accommodation.
Accommodation is more easily available in Lahinch and Doonbeg, both within twenty minutes driving of Miltown Malbay. Contact the Ennis Tourist Office for more information - 065 682 8366 or touristofficeennis@shannondev.ie.
Last minute rooms are posted on an accommodation board in the Community Centre in Miltown Malbay during the summer school.
